Customer opinion survey on shop-mix enhancement

Conducting Period : 14 - 17 March 2007
Venue :Po Tat, Kai Tin, Choi Ming, Tsz Wan Shan, four shopping centres of The Link in various scales
(The new tenants introduced by The Link in these four shopping centres account for over 10% of the respective total internal floor areas)
Methodology : on-site sampling survey through face-to-face interview conducted on both weekdays and weekends
No. of Respondent : 579
Key findings of the survey :
During the 18 months from September 2005, customer ratings of shopping and dining choices in our centres has increased from 5.8 to 6.8, an increase of about 20%
66% of respondents agree that newly introduced shops can cater for the need of local residents
63% of respondents said prices of goods available from newly introduced tenants are affordable
73% of respondents agree that newly introduced shops can bring more convenience to them
Nearly 90% of respondents support our plan to increase more dinning and shopping choices in our properties

Customer opinion survey on Hau Tak Shopping Centre

Venue : East Wing of Hau Tak Shopping Centre where asset enhancement works had been completed
Methodology : on-site sampling survey through face-to-face interview conducted at different hours on both weekdays and weekends
No. of Respondent : 834
Key findings of the survey :
Customer overall ratings on Hau Tak Shopping Centre has increased to 4.7 to 7.8, an increase of about 70%
More than 90% of respondents agree that the asset enhancement project is beneficial to nearby residents
Over 80% of respondents believed asset enhancement achieved the following three purposes :
    1. brought about greater convenience to nearby residents
    2. contributed to the neighbourhood's economic vibrancy
    3. beautify the Hang Hau neighbourhood
83% of respondents support the extension of asset enhancement project to other shopping centres of The Link

Methodology : on-site sampling survey through face-to-face interview conducted at different hours on both weekdays and weekends

Key findings of the survey :
Customer overall ratings on Tsz Wan Shan Shopping Centre has increased to 4.4 to 7.2, an increase of over 60%
Respondents increased number of visits by 38% and 40% during weekdays and weekends respectively
Nearly 60% of respondents extended their stay in the SC, by as long as one hour per visit on average
64% of respondents increased the average spending at the SC, by HK$221 per week on average
89% of respondents said prices of goods available from newly introduced tenants are affordable
83% of respondents agree that that the asset enhancement project is beneficial to nearby residents
