With part of the shopping centre situated above the Yau Tong MTR Station, Lei Yue Mun Plaza is designed as a large-scale shopping centre serving the district.
Lei Yue Mun Plaza consists of four phases to be completed between 2001 and 2005. The first phase is four-storeyed and centrally air-conditioned. It was completed in mid-2001 with about 9,100 square metres of lettable space for various retail and service businesses including banks, a superstore, convenience stores, Chinese and specialty restaurants. On the ground floor, there is a single operator market with an approximate area of 1,700 square metres for wet and dry goods. Various kinds of cultural, promotional and exhibition activities can be conducted in the 400-square metre promotional venue on level one.
Convenient public transport facilities include a bus terminus, a minibus station and a taxi stand. The Yau Tong MTR Station came into service in August 2002. Local residents can also gain easy access to the plaza via a comprehensive covered walkway and footbridge network linking all parts of the public housing developments in the vicinity. There are also sufficient parking spaces for shoppers.
