Recycling campaigns of used items, such as old clothes, not only promote the idea of "reuse" among the public, but also give a hand to the needy.

Paving bricks produced from recycled industrial waste are used in our improvement works, exemplifying our effort in protecting the environment.

Working for a greener future
Green operation
Saving resources is the foremost step for protecting the environment. We proactively adopt various environmentally-friendly materials and measures in our operations to minimise its impact to our environment. A few highlights include:

  • Use of environmentally friendly bricks produced from recycled industrial waste in renovation works

  • Use of paper endorsed by Forest Stewardship Council in the production of financial reports. The endorsement implies that timbers and fibers used for paper production are originated from well-managed forests. Moreover, the ink used for printing is extracted from vegetable oil

  • Staged implementation of the electronic payment system for car park users and the car park automation system. Paper consumption for issuing receipts can hence be minimised

  • Effective control of lighting and air-conditioning systems, making the best out of natural resources available: such as adopting interior design with the best use of natural wind and sunlight to reduce energy consumption, installing sensors in less crowded area to control the rating of the lighting and air-conditioning systems and operation hours

  • Use of refuse collection bins that are made of biodegradable plastic/fiberglass which are in compliance with European accreditation standard of environmental protection

  • Use of biodegradable chlorine-free recycled toilet papers

  • Recycling of used materials, such as decorative plants for Christmas and Chinese New Year, used printer cartridges

    Green promotion
    Leveraging on our extensive network of retail facilities, we have organised a variety of events to promote the "3R" concept in environmental protection - "Reduce", "Reuse" and "Recycle";

  • Reduce

    We have launched reusable bag to encourage the public to use less plastic bags.

  • Reuse

    Collection points are set up in our shopping centres at convenient locations to encourage the public to participate in various recycling campaigns, e.g. old clothes and mooncake boxes. We also frequently organise material-recycling events in our shopping centres, such as encouraging teenagers to use common refuse to build models to incorporate the concept of environmental protection in creativity.

  • Recycle

    We have also launched the first-ever plastic bag recycling programme in shopping centres and established a team of "green ladies" to help promoting this idea in their families, advocating joint efforts in establishing a green community. The collected plastic bags will be recycled for the production of new plastic bags by recycling companies.
