The Link REIT currently leases out markets directly to single operators or individual stall holders. This mixed-leasing strategy will continue depending on the suitability of each market.
In order to improve the traditional image of fresh food markets, The Link REIT has embarked on an environment enhancement programme that will make its markets cleaner, tidier and better lit.
Tai Yuen Market in Tai Po is the pilot scheme in this programme. Enhancements have included the installation of a central air-conditioning system and upgrades to the floors, walls, lighting system and signage. To create a one-stop destination for local shoppers, The Link REIT introduced F&B, retail and service outlets as well as entertainment facilities.
