The Link REIT’s extensive portfolio of community-oriented retail and carparking facilities are at the doorsteps for over 40% of Hong Kong’s total population.  Thus, we are keen to advance community sustainability and enhance relationship with this key stakeholder through proactive engagement.

The Link REIT seeks to promote social and economic regeneration through helping the under-privileged and partnering with local institutions to create social asset and capital.  We lease approximately 8% of floor area to charity organizations at concessionary rents.  To promote further community building, we also offer full waiver or discount to the Government and other charity organizations on letting fees for venues.  The venues were typically used to host activities supporting local communities.

The Link Fun Academy organizes countless events focusing on arts, culture, youth and community development.  Aside from such corporate sponsorships, we also encourage our staff to contribute to community sustainability by organizing staff volunteer teams to visit elderly centres in the local estates.

In January 2011, The Link REIT announced that we have earmarked HK$200 million to review and upgrade all facilities for barrier-free access. The programme will be rolled out in three phases with anticipated completion of the last phase in 2016.  This was the result of intense consultation with the Government, interest groups, local communities as well as subject experts.  Such commitment is a demonstration of how The Link REIT maintains and improves community sustainability through proactive and ongoing stakeholder engagement.
