Tak Tin Plaza

Renovation works at Tak Tin Plaza were carried out in three phases and substantially completed in December 2010. Vertical circulation within the plaza was significantly improved by replacing the original staircases with new escalators. Reconfiguration of the floor layout involved the repartitioning of the existing Chinese restaurant to enhance the trade mix of the shopping centre. The newly renovated arcades and atriums have also improved the shopping experience. The concept behind the renovation is rooted in a metaphoric return to the old Chinese meaning of tin, the Cantonese word for “field”, which forms part of the name of the plaza. Associated colours and textures were used throughout the building, as well as design representations in the external graphics and features above the entrance of the plaza and atrium.
